God

There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in the virgin birth, His sinless life, miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right-hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian can live a godly life.

Scripture

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.

Mankind

Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

From the Baptist Faith & Message 2000

Salvation

Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5: 28-29)

The Church

A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord. Its two scriptural offices are that of pastor/elder/overseer and deacon. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor/elder/overseer is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.

How We Love God.

Worship

Week in and week out the desire of the people who lead in worship is for each person to encounter God in some way as we worship together. Our life with God IS worship. We want the Sunday gathering to strengthen your walk and worship to God all through the week. We want to challenge you through our worship hour to stretch and expand your faith life so that you no longer live a status quo life with God but are able to truly experience a “with-God” life!

Tithes & Offerings

We view the giving of tithes and offerings as an act of worship. We want the act of giving to be a noticeable part of what we are doing before God and for God. Envelopes are on the foyer tablet, so that you may direct your giving in ways that God may be leading. You will also see on our website there is place to give, if you would like to give electronically. Another way to give is by serving the body, the church. Whether by helping with childrens church, holding the door, or serving in the sound booth it’s all for the glory of God. The Apostle Peter instructed: “Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10).

We also worship through the reading and preaching of the Word. God has chosen to reveal himself as the Word and by the Word. John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word." Not in the beginning was the song, or in the beginning was the YouTube video. God identifies his Son, who himself is God, as the Word. This is tremendously important. "In the beginning was the Word." The Son of God is the Word of God. He is God's communication to the world, God's Word.

How We Love People.

Missions

It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. The new birth of man’s spirit by God’s Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. Missionary effort on the part of all rests thus upon a spiritual necessity of the regenerate life, and is expressly and repeatedly commanded in the teachings of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the preaching of the gospel to all nations. It is the duty of every child of God to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by verbal witness undergirded by a Christian lifestyle, and by other methods in harmony with the gospel of Christ. Currently our church is serving alongside an IMB member in London to share the gospel with anyone who would have ears to hear. We also are aiding their efforts of planting, growing, and stewarding collegiate ministries.

Ministries

We have Men’s and Women’s ministries that serve our church and community as well. The goal of these ministries are to form relationships and share life together with those local in our community and church. It’s to reach people where they are and on a more practical level. Men of all ages gather for dinner the last Tuesday of every month for a time of testimony, prayer, and fellowship! As well as for breakfast the first Saturday of every month. You can always expect to have a good meal and to leave feeling encouraged. Our Women meet throughout the year for seasonal parties/fellowships and ministry events. They also attend the Abide Conference together each year at NOBTS. You will find them hosting events for our church as well.

How We Make Disciples.

Small Groups

Small Groups are for fellowship, study, and growth. Our church puts a lot of emphasis on small groups, because they are the life of the church. We encourage every person to be involved in a small group of some kind and experience a life of discipleship. We offer opportunities for all ages to meet at multiple times during the week. Our church encourages a life of prayer. Our small group times are the focal point for our prayer life together. From time to time prayer resources are provided to the church and can be found on the sanctuary entry table. You may make prayer requests to the pastor, deacons, on your offering envelope, or by email. Please indicate whether or not you want your requests to remain private. Otherwise, they will be shared with the church for prayer.

Discipleship Groups (D-Groups)

Have you grown weary of surface-level relationships? Do you want to understand and love the Bible instead of feeling intimidated or confused? Do you long for community to challenge and encourage you in living out the Gospel? If this is you, then D-Group may be the very tool God uses to lead you toward the grow in your faith & relationship with Him! What is a D-Group? A D-Group is a gender-specific closed group of 3 to 5 believers (including the leader) who meet together weekly for the purpose of accelerated spiritual transformation. These groups will normally meet for 12 consecutive months. They can meet weekly in a home, restaurant, or church etc. and on any day of the week that works for your group.

Next Steps

Next Steps Class is the path to membership at Hebron Baptist Church. This is a six week class that will take you on a journey through our churches beliefs, leadership, church life, and standards that we hold ourselves and congregants to. Those standards are given first and foremost by Scripture, and that also of the Baptist Faith Message 2000. Completing theclass doesn’t automatically make you a member, you can take this class even if you just wish to know more about Hebron Baptist Church. You will need to have been baptized and voted in at the next membership meeting as stated by the by-laws in order to fully become a member at Hebron.

Sunday School

Sunday school provides another practical way to do ministry and to be involved with others. Sunday School classes have all the elements of discipleship—a trained, gifted discipler (the teacher), a group of believers (the class), study of Scripture, and an emphasis on personal spiritual growth. This is the standard of all of our classes from children to youth to adults!

Baptism

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper. A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord. Its two scriptural offices are that of pastor/elder/overseer and deacon. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor/elder/overseer is limited to men as qualified by Scripture. The New Testament speaks also of the church as the Body of Christ which includes all of the redeemed of all the ages, believers from every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.
